Dr. Sassani is a sub-specialty-trained ophthalmologist who specializes exclusively in surgical and medical treatment of the retina and vitreous.
Dr. Sassani received his medical degree from the University of California - San Diego School of Medicine. Prior to his medical school training, Dr. Sassani was a productive investigative scientist in the fields of biophysics and stem cell research. He completed his undergraduate studies at UCLA where he graduated with highest honor - summa cum laude.
Dr. Sassani completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Chicago where he served as chief resident. He then completed a busy two-year fellowship in medical retina and vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Wisconsin hospital and clinics.
Dr. Sassani has been published in numerous articles and meeting abstracts. He has been involved in basic research and clinical trials studying various new and emerging treatments in the field of retina care. Dr. Sassani is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Surgeons.
